Hooray! We are now officially in-between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Here in the U.S., it is prime time for wearing white. That said, it is also time to look closely on the etiquette of wearing white. Plus, we will also explore how to wear white properly.
WHO wears white?
The answer is obvious – EVERYONE, with the most famous and most visible are the brides. But, we will not talk about the bride. We will focus on YOU.
WHEN do we wear white?
Traditionally, we wear white between Memorial Day and Labor Day. And though many no longer observe that rule, there are still many holdouts that you can still see raised eyebrows if someone wear white during a formal party (unless you are a bride) during fall.
There are so many theories, even urban myths and legends surrounding the fashion dictum of when to wear white. From delineating the summer season from spring and fall to class implications. WHERE do we wear white?
Another easy answer – EVERYWHERE except at a wedding where the bride is the only one allowed to wear white. And that is a hard and fast rule. If you want eyebrows to rise and your BFF not to talk to you for at least a month, dare to wear white on her wedding.

WHY do we wear white?
Because it is a beautiful color! It is so versatile that a white dress or blouse even rivals the Little Black Dress in its usefulness as a go to outfit. Ask Anne Fontaine who built her business around the White Shirt. Sold worldwide, the Anne Fontaine white shirts remain the brand’s anchor collection.
WHAT do I need to wear white properly?
Believe it not, wearing the proper underwear is very important in creating an impeccable look when wearing white. Because white is so light, the color of the underwear you are wearing is almost always visible. And contrary to popular belief, white underwear is not recommended because they show through.
