DALLAS, Apr 25, 2012/ — CC, short for calico cat literally walked into our lives during our first winter here in Dallas. It was December 1998 and though the temperature was not below freezing, it was still very cold out specially for a cat that is not more than 6 months old.
CC was attracted by the lights in our Christmas tree. Sitting outside our front window, Boyd saw her. We were not planning to get another cat, because we already had Pumpkin, but my Mother fell in love with CC, so now, we have a calico cat.
On June 25, 2007, I was taking photos for printing and framing. Though I was able to get a lot of images, nothing was printed or framed. We were consolidating because we were planning on moving. We decided to wait until we have moved before we make new frames for our pets. But that would not have been the case.
Two years after this photograph was taken, I had to take CC to the animal shelter. She was 11 years old that time. It was a very sad day in October when I had to drop CC and Wicca off. Up to now, I can still remember how loud they were meowing. Somehow they knew that I have abandoned them.
This was the last photographs of CC that I took.
Now, just for the record, CC and our Jack Russell got along very well.
Because of these three cats – Pumpkinhead, CC and Wicca, I know that I will not own cats again. I loved them all and they gave me so much joy. Yet, somehow, I felt that I failed them.
I guess that’s why I’m putting them here, so that I don’t have to look through all my files to see them even in photos.
