Lord of Temptation follows Lord Hawkridge, a penniless Marquess and commoner Faith Digby who happens to be a textile heiress. They have a history together, a time when Hawk was rich lordling and Faith was poor commoner. But, their fortunes had changed though their feelings for each other had not. They meet again through a common connection and they might have a second chance at love. Yet, too much water had gone under the bridge and a reconciliation might be too late.
This is a historical romance set in the Regency era when titles and social standing were very important. A hundred years had passed since then, yet Hawk and Faith’s story is still very relevant today. Just change the aristocratic title to a number is Forbes Rich List.
Erica Ridley created a twist in the rich man/poor woman trope as she did a gender swap. It is fun to watch an aristocrat sweat, yet it is also sad that because of the era that they were in, the woman practically has no voice though she had the upper hand.
Things might have changed a little bit after 100 years, but there is still gender inequality today. It’s good that this is a romance, hence love leveled everything, i.e., when it comes to love, both partners have equal say.
