Audiobook Review: Bad Boy Brody by Tijan

bad boy brody rI have to confess; I downloaded “Bad Boy Brody” because Sebastian York is the narrator. When I started listening, I was ready to hear his soothing and mellow voice to make the characters come alive. And he did not disappoint. It was all that I expected.

What was surprising was that Brody Asher (voiced by Sebastian York) and Morgan Kellerman (voiced by Brooke Bloomingdale tugged at my heartstrings strong enough to make me cry. York and Bloomingdale were perfect as Brody and Morgan, respectively.

Aside from the fact that Tijan successfully wrote the characters to be three-dimensional, York and Bloomingdale’s voices added so much to Brody and Morgan’s characters, you can almost see them in the wilds of Montana in your mind’s eye.

Bad Boy Brody” is a romance, first and foremost. The chemistry between the hero and heroine is so palpable, you can feel it even before they officially met. That’s how intense Tijan wrote them to be!

But it is also a coming-of-age story. Though both Brody and Morgan are grown, their past had stunted their emotional growth enough that before they can move forward, they must face their demons first.

And this is where Tijan, Sebastian York and Brooke Bloomingdale excelled. Tijan did not mince words. Her prose is so natural that you feel you can actually talk to the characters if you want it.

Sebastian York is his usual flawless self. Brody was the grieving brother, the Hollywood diva, then a man in love. He was also a family man who will give everything to the people he loves. All of these were conveyed by York.

This is the first time that I listened to Brooke Bloomingdale and she was excellent as Morgan. From the strong woman who ride with wild mustangs, Morgan also became the lost little girl who misses her mother. She was also the grieving sister who lost her siblings. Bloomingdale made Morgan come alive.

A great book to listen to. It should be part of your library. “Bad Boy Brody” is Rated M for Mature due to sexual content.

Summary

One punch took him from Hollywood’s Golden Boy to Bad Boy Brody.

The media didn’t care he was grieving his brother’s death. They descended on him, but to change his reputation, his manager got him a deal. Act in an indie film, one that already had Oscar buzz, and he’d get the movie roles he needed to secure his future.

He took the deal.

Yet he wasn’t prepared for the real-life people behind the script.
He wasn’t prepared for the murder the movie was based on.
And he really wasn’t prepared for her, the biggest secret of all.

She was wild. She was beautiful. She defied gravity.

But was she the leading role that would tame him?
