Book Review: Slave (The Cat Star Chronicles) by Cheryl Brooks

When I picked up Outcast, I just fell in love with the Cat Star Chronicles and decided to read the whole series. (Am currently reading the latest installment). So, following the geek me, I started in the beginning and realized how it all began and that among all the characters in the series, Cat and Jacinth are the two who could be classified as boring.

Oh, don’t get me wrong… I do love the series and I believe that Cheryl Brooks is a master of her craft. But, the first book, Slave is a hard sell to me. But, then come to think of it, George Lucas sold Star Wars to us by making Episode 3 first! Aha! There is a logic there because quite frankly, if I had to deal with Queen Amidalah and the young Anakin Skywalker, I would have not become a die-hard Star Wars fan.

That said, I’m glad that I picked up Outcast first because I really fell in love with the Zetithian immediately. So, though I found Cat in “Slave” a little bit boring, I knew that things will get better for them in the future.

Okay, the book – the premise is great. Jacinth is looking for her sister and found Cat in a slaver planet. Cat is of course gorgeous like all Zetithian males and Jacinth was instantly attracted. On the other hand, there was also an instant attraction on Cat’s side.

The sex scenes are steamy and yes you actually wish at times for Zetithians to exist. Ha! Ha! Pipe dreams! Nevertheless, Cheryl Brooks invented a whole new planet and a whole new species for us, so it is really worth reading the series. And believe me when I say that it gets better.

Yes, the bad reviews of this book are on the mark, but I won’t listen to them. READ THE BOOK!!! You won’t be disappointed as you read the rest of the series.

Slave (The Cat Star Chronicles)” is Rated M for Mature due to sexual content and due to discussion of slavery.

Description (updated July 28, 2018)

He may be the last of a species whose sexual talents were the envy of the galaxy.

“I found him in the slave market on Orpheseus Prime, and even on such a god-forsaken planet as that one, their treatment of him seemed extreme.”

Cat is an enslaved warrior from a race with a feline gene that gives him awesome beauty, fearsome strength, and sensuality and sexual prowess unmatched by any other males in the universe. Even filthy, chained, and beaten, he gives off an aura of power and virility and his feline gene gives him a special aura.

Jacinth is an intergalactic trader on a rescue mission and she needs a man she can trust with her life.

She has spent years pursuing her kidnapped sister from planet to planet. Now her quest leads her to a place where all the women are slaves. “Jack” needs a slave of her own-one who can masquerade as her master.

Enmeshed in a tangle of deception, lust, and love, they must elude a race of violent killers and together forge a bond stronger than any chains.

The first book in wildly popular Cat Star Chronicles, a paranormal romance series featuring heroes with a feline gene that gives them remarkable sexual powers.
