ALIBELLUS+ Men Spring/ Summer 2014: A Dream

Alibellus Men S14 (25)Close to the sky, avid of unexpected flight, Alibellus+ man intends to be free. Broken chains, he defies the fate and like a bird, he escapes from danger.

Inspired by Birdy, Alan Parker’s 1984 movie starring Matthew Modine and Nicholas Cage, the designer Titi Kwan, adorned the “birdy”-men. No need to turn to feathers subterfuge. Everything is about texture and glistening colors

The silhouette is evocative: shoulders are rounds, like the brids before the flight, such as those of Matthew Modine’s character curled up. Shirts and sweatshirts float along the body while pants and shorts hang loose the body.

Being barefoot brings to mind the hero being free of obstruction, establishing a new beginning. The evidence of the allusion to the bird is stronger as we go through each piece. Over here, stripes are opposite and draw exceptional branches. Further on they seem to become cages, the supreme prison.

Collars are stretched as if they are artificial wings. Fabrics are waterproof, water slides on it as it were on feathers. Materials are light, almost weightless.

And like the movie Birdy, it asks, is this a dream or just pure escape?
