A YA sci-fi/fantasy trilogy, the “Lucidites” series by Sarah Noffke is composed of Awoken, Stunned and Revived. As explained in the first book “Awoken,” the Lucidites are humans who have lucid dreams, i.e. their bodies are at rest, but their consciousness can be wherever and whenever they want them to be.
While dream traveling, the Lucidites can be in any part of the globe in an instant. They can time travel, too though the Lucidites have strict protocols for that. Because to them dreams are real, the Lucidites can accomplish tasks while in dream travel.
They can be “tourists” jumping from place to place just to see the sights. Or they can attend classes to learn a new skill or even earn a college degree all the way to a doctorate. Lucidites also have magical skills that run the gamut from telepathy to telekinesis.
It’s a fascinating world that Sarah Noffke built for us. I fell in love with in in the first chapter where we meet 16-year old Roya Stark who has a recurring nightmare of drowning. She tried to fight it, but the more she did, the stronger the pull. Until one night, she just gave up!
To her surprise, she did not die. She woke up in a strange room that looked like a medical facility. She just cannot believe that the person who was treating her was just a year or two older than her. And Roya’s adventure began!
Awoken, Stunned and Revived should be read or listened to in that order. Awoken sort of ends in a cliffhanger but not by much, so if you decide not to continue, you have a good ending. On the other hand Stunned and Revived need all three books to be read to get the conclusion that you are expecting or waiting for.
For those who love romances, remember that the Lucidites is a YA series, so it is a slow burn romance. In the same token, some of you might find the pacing slow though I feel that it’s just right. The premise and the magic system are unique, thus making it very interesting and hard to put down once you start reading/listening.
Elizabeth Klett as the narrator did an incredible job voicing so many characters.
The Lucidites series is Rated T for Teens. There are no sex scenes in this book. Parental guidance is advised due to sci-fi/fantasy violence.

Publisher’s Summary: The Lucidites Series
“In a world where dreams are real, nightmares reign.”
Around the world humans are hallucinating after sleepless nights.
In a sterile, underground institute the forecasters keep reporting the same events.
And in the backwoods of Texas, a 16-year-old girl is about to be caught up in a fierce, ethereal battle.
Meet Roya Stark. She drowns every night in her dreams, spends her hours reading classic literature to avoid her family’s ridicule, and is prone to premonitions – which are becoming more frequent. And now her dreams are filled with strangers offering to reveal what she has always wanted to know: Who is she? That’s the question that haunts her, and she’s about to find out. But will Roya live to regret learning the truth?
