DALLAS, Apr 24, 2012/ — Pumpkinhead came to our lives while Boyd and I were living in Guam. That was in 1996, when we adopted him from another military couple who was leaving the island.
It was supposed to be a cat-sitting arrangement; but Boyd and I got attached to Pumpkin and due to unavoidable circumstances, our friends cannot send for him.
In 1998, when it was time for us to leave Guam, Pumpkinhead traveled with us all the way back to the U.S. mainland. He was with me when I was applying for a job. In fact, he is the reason why we live in Dallas now. Pumpkinhead did not like San Antonio; it was too hot for him, so we have to go to north Texas.
These photos were taken on Jun 16, 2007. Pumpkinhead was either 11 or 12 years old that time. (We could never be sure because he was a rescue cat). He left my care the next day. I did not know that when I shot the photos, it would be the last time that I would see Pumpkin.
Five years after he was gone, I still think of him once in a while. He had been a very important part of our lives. And just for the record, Pumpkinhead is Boyd’s cat. Though Pumpkin was never mean to me; in his own way he was sweet towards me. But he had always shown that he preferred Boyd over me.
Another thing, Pumpkinhead and our Welsh Corgi got along very well. In fact, Pumpkinhead trained our Corgi how to fight. I wish I have taken photos of them when they were training.
