When I’m reading a book, I always imagine what the characters are wearing. Whether they are historical, fantasy or contemporary fiction, my imagination always work overtime when it comes to costumes.
Then sometimes, though I might have not read the book yet and just have seen its title and the book cover, I immediately think of clothes. This is what happened when I got a hold of “Come Winter” by Clare Gutierrez.
Set in medieval England, it is the story of Lady Caterina Tabor, a noble woman who had to disguise herself as a lowly maidservant to survive. The book spanned decades of castle life, treacherous journeys, bloody battles, and heartache. “Come Winter” is a sweeping yet personal tale of a brave woman who at once embodies and transcends the prescribed and oftentimes oppressive roles her society demanded.
While reading, it was not hard to imagine Caty as a modern woman. And that was when I asked myself what she would be wearing if she is here in the 21st century.
The Sentaler‘s Fall/Winter 2015 Collection came to mind. Titled “A Frozen Landscape”, the collection was inspired by crystal formations and plunging temperatures. Cool, crisp and modern, Bojana Sentaler, the designer behind the label proposes multiple styles made from the textured Suri alpaca, which is ideal for keeping warm in the true winter months. Transitional weather can be styled in the lighter alpaca weights offered in the new collection.
Icy Palettes
Sentaler sheds new light to classic dreary winter shades with an array of stunning soft pastels including ice blue, rose dust, shale grey, chamois, and winter white. Classic palettes of midnight, black and camel round out the collection’s color offering.
Cozy Wraps
Shawl collar ponchos, cozy wraps and longer coat lengths are all new design features to keep out the cold, while maintaining style. Sentaler’s signature ribbed detail is incorporated into sleeves and collars throughout the new collection.
