Book Review: A Cowboy Like You by Donna Grant

Destiny… that’s the first word that came to mind after reading “A Cowboy Like You” by Donna Grant. Danny Oldman and Skylar Long knew each other in high school. They even had a crush on each other, but they never acted on it.

Now, as adults, they met again under inopportune circumstance, but it turned out that it was just destiny’s way for them to find that true love had always been there for them. They just need to grab it.

Skylar was running away from an abusive relationship when she realized that she went to her hometown to find refuge. And though it was a surprise by itself, the bigger shocker is that she was rescued by her high school crush Danny Oldman.

The town sheriff, Danny Oldman did not date and he lived alone. Many believe that he was married to his job. In a way he was; but once in a while, he thought of Skylar and wonder what might have been if he had the courage to ask her out.

Then, out of the blue, Skylar was back, and Danny found himself ready to do whatever it takes to protect her. He also vowed that he would use this second chance given to him to finally tell her how what he felt.

But first, they have to do battle with one of the richest and one of the influential families in the Greater Houston-Galveston area of Texas. And with the help of friends, Danny and Skylar face their adversaries head on.

Fortunately for our romantic heroes, they began to form to a closer and tighter relationship that blossomed into love as their mutual childhood crush were reignited.

Aptly titled, “A Cowboy Like You” is a sweet and easy read. Danny and Skylar, our romantic heroes are both very likeable.

“A Cowboy Like You” is Rated T for Teens. Parental guidance strongly advised due to some violence and some sex scenes which are not graphic.
