Book Review: Her Fierce Warrior by Paige Tyler

In “Her Fierce Warrior ,” the fifth book in the X-Ops Series, author Paige Tyler brings the readers to Central Asia in relatively peaceful Tajikistan. Though its civil war ended almost a decade ago, the country was still recovering from its devastation.

On a black ops run in the area, Special Forces Sergeant Angelo Rios ran into a seemingly domestic disturbance until his team discovered two men dead from an animal attack. But, they were mistaken. What they found was a shifter, which for all intent and purposes should not be in this part of the world.

Following his instincts, Angelo decided not to be aggressive and took a peaceful stance. To his surprise, the shifter ran to him and embraced him, not to kill him but to snuggle. Then the shifter morphed into the most beautiful woman that Angelo has ever seen.

A paranormal romance, “Her Fierce Warrior ” straddles the mystery/thriller genre with its X-Ops component. Angelo and Minka are a wonderful pairing. And for those who like alpha females, Minka will not disappoint. She is as fierce as Angelo when it comes to protecting those she loves. She also knows how to stand her ground.

A standalone novel, “Her Fierce Warrior ” being the fifth book in the series also featured cameos of the protagonists in the first four books. Their insertion is the storyline is so seamless, they added to the telling instead of taking the limelight away from Angelo and Minka.

And if you are like me wherein “Her Fierce Warrior” is the first book that you’ll read in the series, then the presence of the other lead characters actually will make you interested in reading the first four books.
