Book Review: Having My Baby by Theresa Ragan

Rating:

Beautifully Written and Executed
5 Stars

Derrick Baylor and Jill Garrison are not your average citizens. He is an NFL quarterback and she is the publisher of a magazine. He’s from California and she’s from New York. Thus somehow, Rudyard Kipling’s “East is east and west is west, and never the twain shall meet” took a different meaning.

Poignant, sweet, funny, even a few tears along the way, Derrick and Jill tug your heartstrings. They might not be the ideal couple in the beginning and they worked very hard, especially Derrick to get their happily ever after.

*** Possible Spoilers??? (Am unsure if this counts) ***

This is really a great story and Theresa Ragan had me hooked from page 1. The premise is unique and the characters are unforgettable. The protaganists and the supporting cast were all fleshed out nicely. And of course, the two subplots are also entertaining.

I gave the book 5 stars, so I really don’t have any complaints. In fact, I truly love the book. I guess it is just an observation… well… the New Yorkers really got a raw deal in this book. They were pictured as unfeeling, pain in the neck and downright rude. I felt its unfair to characterize them as such. Also, the New Yorkers were never given the chance to redeem themselves until the end.

Other than that, it’s really a great read!!! A truly enjoyable book.
