Regency era romances almost always talk about the haute ton, the fashionable group of aristocrats that is basically the social set of early 19th century London. In “One Night for Seduction,” the first book in the Wicked Dukes Club series proposes that there were members of the upper crust who broke away from the establishment to create their own club.

In today’s lingo, we might call them rebels or liberals. But, in the context of the “Wicked Dukes Club” series, these aristocrats just want to be away from the haute ton’s very strict rules of propriety. These aristocrats did not turn their backs to polite society. They just want to relax the rules a little.

To achieve that, two ducal friends, the Duke of Colehaven and the Duke of Eastleigh established The Wicked Duke club which welcomed everyone from all walks of life.

And like the established clubs of that era, betting is a favorite pastime. This time, the bet was that the Duke of Colehaven will find a match for Diana Middleton, the ward and cousin of one of the members.

Armed with his knowledge of the eligible bachelors, Colehaven was ready to marry Diana off. But when he met her, he found out that Diana was more than meets the eye. With each meeting with her, the list of bachelors kept on getting shorter until there was only one left – himself.

Problem is, Colehaven will lose if he marries Diana. And Colehaven has a 10-year winning streak that he did not want to break.

A quick read, “One Night for Seduction” is a romantic comedy at its core. The characters are developed enough to be three-dimensional while still leaving room to add to their individualities in future books. This is just the first one. There are 5 more to go.
