Book Review: Risk It All by Katie Ruggle

As I have said before, author Katie Ruggle has a wicked sense of humor and we see it again in this laugh out loud funny rom-com, “Risk It All.”

The second book in the “Rocky Mountain Bounty Hunters” that features 5 sisters who have undertaken the very dangerous job of bounty hunting. In Book 1 “In Her Sights,” Molly Pax is the perfect action heroine – sassy, confident and has moves that can give Jason Bourne a run for his money.

In “Risk It All” (Book 2), we meet Molly’s younger sister, Cara Pax who happens to be a card-carrying nerd. More at home in front of a computer with white hat hacking skills, Cara is the epitome of how not to be a bounty hunter.

She has the observation skills and can easily connect the dots, but her reaction time is a beat too slow in the fast-moving world of bounty hunting.

Enter his bounty- Henry Kavenski, who on paper is a dangerous criminal but he rescues puppies from certain death and protects Cara’s back. What kind of bounty is that?

So in-between life-endangering moments, Cara and Henry starts a dangerous flirtation that could both cost them their lives. And these are the moments that make this book a standout. Author Katie Ruggle can mix humor and action without batting an eyelash.

An inept criminal who vacillate between being a bad guy and a good guy. A bounty hunter who is brilliant in deduction but just don’t have the hair trigger physical reflexes for the job seem like a recipe for disaster. Still, it works. Cara and Henry are lovable protagonists.

“Risk It All” is Rated T for Teens. Parental guidance strongly advised due to violence and graphic descriptions of crime scene.
