Book Review: Serafina and the Psycho Sous-Chef by Marie Treanor

Rating:

serafina and the psycho sous chefWhen the news that Universal Pictures bought the film rights for Anne Rice’s “Vampire Chronicles”, I had to look again into “Serafina and the Psycho Sous-Chef (The Serafina’s Series Book 4)” or better yet, the “Serafina” series.

Book readers, moviegoers and TV viewers – we all love our paranormals and the “Serafina” series has them in spades – from psychics to vampires, to werewolves and even the mythical Tuatha Dé Danann. And then of course, 21st century technology like holograms also made an appearance.

Though “Serafina and the Psycho Sous-Chef (The Serafina’s Series Book 4)” is the fourth book in the series, this is actually my introduction to it and the first time that I am reading Marie Treanor. And guess what, I love it!

The story of the vampire Phil and the beautiful amnesiac Linnie, “Serafina and the Psycho Sous-Chef (The Serafina’s Series Book 4)” is as much a love story as it is a treatise on how paranormals view each other. Think of it as paranormal race relations as humans, vampires, werewolves and Tuatha Dé Danann interact in this romantic drama/comedy.

A lot of action with a touch of mystery, readers are taken into a roller coaster ride as the characters try to exorcise ghosts, find a missing child and catch the person who are trying to do them harm!

And finally, “Serafina and the Psycho Sous-Chef (The Serafina’s Series Book 4)” is Rated M for Mature due to some very steamy and sexy bedroom scenes.

Book Description:

A lust more addictive than spirits…

Whisky-swilling vampire Phil has his own reasons for returning to Edinburgh. They don’t include rescuing beautiful amnesiac damsels in distress, and yet one night after escaping from an old enemy, that’s exactly what he does.

At first his motive is curiosity because of Linnie’s apparent connection to his enemy, but once he involves his old drinking companion Blair, who comes these days with a gaggle of wacky humans from Serafina’s Psychic Investigations, everything gets out of hand.

While hunting his old enemy, Phil gets side-tracked into helping psychic human Sera in her bizarre cases involving a missing child, a designer drug for Hollywood celebrities, and a psychotic chef who heals her victims – maybe.

But he has mysteries of his own to solve – is Linnie’s amnesia real, and if so, how did she lose her memory? Who is she? Why does her blood taste so much more delicious than anyone else’s? And why has she interested the reclusive Founder?
