Book Review: Sleeping Love by Sara Curran-Ross

Rating:

A Great Read
5 Stars

“Sleeping Love” is a psychological thriller with a huge dose of great sex between husband and wife. Without the suspense element, this book would have been classified as erotica. But, with the whodunit aspect, it’s actually a fun ride, no pun intended.

There were some things I did not like about the book, on the path that the writer took the story. But, it was the author’s prerogative to bring the story whichever way she want. We are just there for the ride by reading the book. The baddies in the book can be so cliche, yet, I have to consider that this is a whodunit book wrapped as a romance novel. Hence, the police procedurals aspect is not strong and quite frankly, I was not expecting the author to do it since the book is actually very short.

So, why did I give this book 5 stars? Because overall, the book took me where I want it to take me. I like the suspense and the romantic elements in the book. As for the sex scenes, there was a “Nine and Half Weeks” aspect without the S&M. Some people might not like it. Then again, I believe that the author used it as literary ploy.

“Sleeping Love” is a good read. Just don’t expect it to be one of Jonathan Kellerman’s psychological thrillers. It gives us what it promised it was – a romantic suspense novel.
