Book Review: The Earl Next Door by Amanda Grange

True Love Prevails
5 Stars

Set in England during the French Revolution, “The Earl Next Door” follows Marianne Travis and Luke Sommerville, the Earl of Ravensford as they fell in love in the calm shores of the English Channel while their minds are on the turbulent French shores.

Fast-moving with every words counting to tell the story, the book is a tantalizing read from beginning to end. Marianne and Luke are strong characters and for a romance novel, the protagonists are actually written as if the book is literary fiction. I like my romance novels but as a rule, I really hate it when the hero/heroine seem not to make up their minds because of something silly. Well, Luke and Marianne are not like that. They know what they want and they go and get it. Hence, I cannot read fast enough. I want to know what’s going to happen next.

With a little bit of suspense thrown in, “The Earl Next Door” is an engaging story from the moment Luke and Marianne met.

A great book to carry to the beach or to the woods when you are taking your summer holidays! Of course, it goes without saying that this is a great book to read at home too.
