Book Review: The Tycoon’s Revenge by Melody Anne

I read this book sometime ago and had fond memories of Derek and Jasmine, the main characters of the story. And then, it popped up again in the free area and I decided to resurrect my old copy and re-read it. And boy, oh boy… a second reading made a big difference in my opinion of the book.

First, let me say that I still like Derek and Jasmine a lot. A second chance with your first love is always a heartwarming story. And that scene in Derek’s office was as sizzling hot as I remember.

Now, here’s the big BUT… Since I knew how the story will end, I became more aware of things that I glossed over during my first reading. The editing was awful! There were so many grammatical errors – punctuations and spellings that it became jarring by the time I reached the middle of the book.

The storytelling was also repetitive. C’mon, how many times do I need to read about the day that Derek and Jasmine’s heart were broken. Until the last part of the book, they were still talking about it.

And finally, the villain was not even around long enough for the readers to have feelings for him. Almost everything about him is “second hand” opinion, since readers just hear about it but never really witnessed it.

This book is Rated M for mature due to sexual content
