Book Review: The Tycoon’s Forced Bride by Jane Porter

The Tycoons Forced BrideA short and very intense read, “The Tycoon’s Forced Bride” by Jane Porter seemed to have been written with the East Coast storm system in mind. I was reading it when New York was being battered by a blizzard and guess what? Malcolm McKenzie and Ava Galvan, the protagonists in the story are living in Manhattan and they left the city for St. Bart’s right before a big snowstorm hit. What a coincidence!

Aside from the weather which helped by the way for me to fully appreciate why Colm and Ava had to abscond to the Caribbean, the story is fierce and passionate. Ava who has partial amnesia does not remember loving Colm but her body recognizes him on a physical level.

Though three years had passed since the accident with Ava only remembering bits and pieces about it and not enough to make a coherent story, she has a certain level of distrust towards Colm. But, how can that be? They have a child together. They must have been in love at some point in time, right?

The Tycoon’s Forced Bride” is actually a novella. Short as it is, it actually packed a punch. Jane Porter did not mince words as she fleshed out the main characters and the important secondary ones. From the first page to the last, you can feel the tension which by the way is truly palpable when Colm and Ava are together.

Reading this during a cold winter day can heat up your blood. The steamy scenes between Colm and Ava can bring even the subzero temperature to sizzling, Thus making The Tycoon’s Forced Bride Rated M for Mature.

Malcolm McKenzie will never forget that night in New York when he put Ava Galvan in a taxi following a heated argument, and the Argentine beauty was involved in an horrific accident—one that ended her career as an acclaimed soloist with the Manhattan Ballet, and impaired her memory and ability to live an independent life.

The Scottish tycoon and philanthropist lives with his guilt, and another consequence: Ava was pregnant with his child the night of the accident. Ever since that night, Malcom has raised Jack as a single father.

But Ava is stronger now, and Jack wants his mommy to come home. Malcolm has never stopped wanting her and he’s determined to do whatever it takes to claim Ava—with or without her consent.
