Book Review: Wallflower by Catherine Gayle

Rating:

Great concept but something is missing
3 Stars

I would have loved to give this book 5 stars but it came up wanting by the time I was 1/4 on the way and it just never recovered from there. The concept for the story is great – a romance between a plus size aristocratic woman and a titled gentleman.

And though I was not expecting the independent quality of Melissa McCarthy’s Molly in the hit TV series “Mike & Molly”, I was expecting something other than rebellion from Tabitha, the heroine of the story.

I’m giving the book 3 stars because the author actually wrote a tight storyline. She even had time to introduce other characters which I presume will get their own books. “Wallflower” was also well-edited and I cannot remember any grammatical or printing errors. For these alone, the book already got high marks from me. Plus the fact that it is the story of a mature, plus size woman. Gosh… I was really working a 5-star assumption here. I was truly looking forward reading it. Unfortunately, the book fell flat and I had to give it 3 stars. 🙁
