Last April 17, 2013, Calvin Klein Collection and the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) hosted a special evening in honor of HRC’s high-profile marriage equality program, Americans for Marriage Equality, at the iconic brand’s Madison Avenue flagship store.
To kick off the event, Christine Quinn, current Speaker of the New York City Council and mayoral hopeful, spoke in support of HRC, followed by Lloyd Blankfein, CEO and Chairman of Goldman Sachs, who was a member of the event’s host committee.
In addition to Mr. Blankfein, members of the event’s host committee who were also in attendance included: Uma Thurman, Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka, Alan Cumming, Carolyn Murphy, Dan Stevens, Josh Lucas, Jared Kushner, Ellsworth Kelly and Jack Shear, Francisco Costa, Italo Zucchelli, Cristina Greeven Cuomo, Lauren DuPont, Anh Duong, Marina Rust and Ian Connor, Allison Sarofim, Laure Heriard Dubreuil and Aaron Young, Lizzie and Jonathan Tisch, Linda Fargo, Stefano Tonchi and David Maupin, Aaron Hicklin, Klaus Biesenbach and Laura Blankfein.
For the event, Calvin Klein Collection wardrobed Ms. Thurman, Ms. Murphy, Mr. Harris and Mr. Burtka, Mr. Cumming, Mr. Lucas, Mr. Stevens, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Justin Mitika, Andrew Rannells, Andy Cohen, Nora Zehetner, Ms. Cuomo, Ms. Dupont, Ms. Duong, Ms. Heriard Dubreuil, Veronica Webb, Cory Bond, David Hallberg, Mr. Biesenbach and Lincoln Pilcher. Photographer, blogger, and model Hanneli Mustaparta, who is a contributor to Calvin Klein’s official Tumblr blog (calvinklein.tumblr.com), was also wardobed in Calvin Klein Collection and on hand to cover the event. Each of the women’s looks was designed by Mr. Costa and each of the men’s looks was designed by Mr. Zucchelli – the brands’ respective Women’s and Men’s Creative Directors.
Other notable guests in attendance in support of this initiative included: Doug Liman, Brian Ellner, Jill Kargman, Renée Rockefeller, Angela Westwater, Andrew Saffir and Daniel Benedict, Maggie Betts and Calvin Klein, Inc.’s Chief Executive Officer, Tom Murry.
Calvin Klein Collection hosted the official launch of the Americans for Marriage Equality in the brands’ Madison Avenue flagship in November 2011. As the inauguration for the nationwide campaign, many influential and iconic figures in entertainment, fashion, society and business headlined and attended the event.
