Founded in Paris by designer Christian Dior in 1946, the House of Dior is one of the most revered names in fashion, and is the archetype of Parisian couture. Famous for launching the “New Look,” Christian Dior’s first collection that marked a sea change in women’s fashion after the austerity of the Second World War, the House of Dior is still known today for exquisite haute couture dresses, as well as ready-to-wear, leather goods, accessories, fine jewelry and perfumes and cosmetics.

This book, DIOR COUTURE, is a portfolio of over one hundred iconic gowns from the entire era of Christian Dior haute couture, including dresses designed by Dior himself and those of his successors, Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan, and John Galliano.

Each of these exquisite portraits were shot by legendary fashion photographer Patrick Demarchelier whose work has graced the pages of the world’s leading magazines including Vogue, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, Glamour, and many others. Shot in settings including a movie studio in Beijing, Times Square in New York and, in Paris, in venues including a private château, the Opéra Garnier, avenue Montaigne, and at the Hôtel Plaza Athénée, the stunning gowns—vintage and contemporary—were shot on models including Natalia Vodianova, Gisele Bündchen, Karolina Kurkova, Karlie Kloss, Gemma Ward, Agyness Deyn, Caroline Trentini, and actress Charlize Theron.

With splendid images accompanied by thoughtful text by Ingrid Sischy and a special foreword by artist Jeff Koons, DIOR COUTURE immortalizes one of the most important and long-lived couture houses in the world and is a book that anyone with an interest in fashion will want for their library.
