Using sustainable fashion as a power to awaken the public to the effects of human-induced aspects of climate change, “Save the Seasons” campaign epitomizes that through a whimsical photographic depiction.
Inspired by Gabby Wild, a sustainable fashion model, veterinary student at Cornell University, and endangered animal conservation charity president, fashion designer, Krisztina Lazar, created custom-made garments that represent the four seasons of the year for “the guardian angel of wildlife”.
The garments were hand-crocheted and sewn, representing the sustainable pattern of fashion design prior to the Industrial Revolution.
The scenic depictions of each look, captured by fashion photographer, Edward Colelli, will be culminated into a storyline to creatively spread the message about our changing world.
These climate change messages include: the variations in the sun’s energy reaching earth, changes in the greenhouse effect, changes in the reflectivity of the Earth’s atmosphere and surface where we live, the modifying life cycles of animals, including changes in bird and butterfly migration and fish habitats due to increased ocean acidity and heat, and the erratic and extreme weather changes that are affecting not only our sources of food but also our ability to survive their wrath.
