MILAN, Oct 11, 2012/ — Lady Gaga can wear any designer clothes she wants but the famed songstress has a penchant for Versace! Case in point, on October 2nd, she was seen wearing the famous “safety pin” dress that was last seen in 1994 on Elizabeth Hurley.
The iconic black safety pin dress with plunging neckline and cut out sides held together by gold safety pins has captured not only the fashionista’s imagination but the entire world. No one dared to wear it again for almost two decades because it is so unforgettable. But, Lady Gaga is not just someone else. She is Lady Gaga! She wore the safety pin dress with aplomb and now people are asking, “Who wore it better?” though the occasions are 18 years apart.
The day before (October 1), at the Palazzo Versace on Via Gesu, Donatella Versace held a private dinner in honor of Lady Gaga. For the occasion, the international pop sensation chose a full Versace look. She wore a red vintage Gianni Versace gown with intricate straps and a gold medusa buckle from the Gianni bondage collection combine with sunglasses and handbag from the Versace Spring/Summer 2013 Runway.
Later that night, both Donatella Versace and Lady Gaga changed into second full Versace looks and threw roses to their fans from the Palazzo Versace balcony. Also joining them on the balcony was Fozzi Bear, the Haus of Gaga’s pet dog.
And if does not prove that Lady Gaga truly loves Versace, look back on June 18, 2012 in Sydney, Australia when Lady Gaga chose to wear Versace for her arrival to the city.
The artist wore a long-sleeve pearl grey Atelier Versace evening gown, encrusted with Swarovski crystals with gold metal discs that emphasize the neckline.
