NEW YORK, Sep 9, 2012/ — Garments for women. Another vision of Maison Martin Margiela’s take on femininity. A youthful and contemporary line in which prints, soft volumes and ease play key roles. These garments draw their inspiration from, and lend themselves to the more casual moments of life, often with a humoristic twist.
SILHOUETTE – A combination of draped and constructed volumes.
THEMES – Deconstruction – undone neck bindings, inside-out dart details. Reinterpretation – fabrics, textures and shapes are reworkedand redefined. Military – parachute volumes, bonded silks, turned-up hems, cinching constructions, criss-crossed drawstrings. Destroyed – raw finishings, perforated and brushed treatments, gauze yarn, rough metal.
GROUPS OF 3 – As with each season, a proportional enlarging and lengthening of garments from classic sizes to the oversized – blazers, coats, dresses, shirts. Finishings follow suite – pockets, stripes, rib trims.
PRINTS – ‘Archive’ – encompassing previous MMM’s men’s and women’s prints. ‘Camouflage’ – pastel and monochrome print.
FABRICS – Leather, wool, silk, PVC. Treated authentic and faux denims.
COLOUR PALETTE – From whites, coloured whites, greys and metallics, to fluorescents – pink, orange, blue, acqua green.
BAGS – ‘Marsupial’ tote bag is rolled-up to become a cylindrical fanny pack. ‘Triangular’ bag base connects becoming rounded.
FOOTWEAR – Transparent or coloured PVC ankle boots, fluorescent wedges, pastel espadrilles, camouflage high-top sneakers.
JEWELLERY – Chunky and oversized metal jewellery – light, hollow constructions with a heavy appearance.
