DALLAS, Apr 27, 2013/ — The more things changes, the more it stays the same… Inspired by the the époque of the Arctic explorations in the late 19th to early 20th century, sibling design team of Nicholas Kunz and Christopher Kunz for Nicholas K created an ultra modern collection which happens to be timeless at the same time.
Explorers, challenged by the very harsh polar world and its workings, fought the elements with all the tools available to them. Be it the 19th century or the 21th century, the need for protection against the elements is first and foremost.
The fabric is modern and more technologically advanced, even lighter in weight than its counterpart over a century ago, yet its function remains the same – protect the wearer from the elements.
And that is where the beauty of this collection lay – famed explorers Robert E. Peary or Frederick A. Cook could have easily worn it when they were exploring the North Pole and the feeling that they are ahead of their time prevails not because of the clothes but because of the exploration.
And on the other end of the spectrum, put the cut and the clothes 100 years hence and explorers of that age will not feel as if they are wearing an old style. It is still modern for them.
I will say it again, the more things changes, the more it stays the same.
