With “Scattered Light” by Artist Jim Campbell as setting the stage for a magical holiday experience, NorthPark Center celebrates “A Season of Light” for the 2014 holiday season.
A spectacular installation by renowned artist Jim Campbell, entitled Scattered Light, will draw visitors to CenterPark with a cascading grid of flickering light. It creates the illusion of figurative images through its 3-D matrix of thousands of hanging light bulbs.
The three-dimensional work, which was recently on view at Madison Square Park in New York City, features 1,800 dangling light bulbs flickering into shadowy figures. It promises to be Dallas’ most photographed light display this holiday season.
Campbell’s work has been exhibited internationally and throughout North America in institutions such as the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; The International Center for Photography, New York; The J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney, Australia.
His electronic art work is included in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington, DC; the Whitney Museum of American Art; the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; the de Young Museum, San Francisco and the Berkeley Art Museum.
