Sally LaPointe began the Spring 2015 Collection by thinking about the idea of spring cleaning. Approaching the season by cleansing the visual palate, the resulting collection is fresh, confident, and committed.
With a focus on cool, easy luxury, LaPointe applied her powerfully feminine, linear aesthetic to relaxed silhouettes, resulting in a clear and focused message.
“The collection is void of confusion and excess. It is boiled down to only core essentials. The act of stripping awayreveals a sense of confidence and ease in the clothing,” says LaPointe.
The collection focuses on exploring relaxed silhouettes and separates. Lower hemlines, carefully draped tops and cropped, full-cut trousers are done in a cool-toned palate of black, optic white, lavender, blush, and hints of rich purple and magenta. Standout pieces include sculpted dresses in techno jersey, artisanal knits with ostrich feather accents, and bustier tops with hand beaded pearls and micro chain accents.
Furthering the concept of a fresh start, feathers, which LaPointe considers uplifting and symbolic of a higher power, are translated into oversized graphic prints.
Images of feathers were magnified, producing a painterly effect, and are featured on several key dresses. Key fabrications include lightweight bonded silk, double-faced jersey, printed chiffon, pebbled leather and silk gazaar.
“The idea of letting go was my focus this season. I wanted to deliver a collection that was clear and concise, amplifying the power and conviction of the clothes.”
The Sally LaPointe Spring 2015 collection will be available at select retailers beginning in February 2014.
