MILAN, Sep 21, 2012/ — In this digital age, unveiling the latest collection during fashion week is just half the story. The other half is creating synergy with a closely related art such as film.
And for Spring 2013, Francesco Russo, Creative Director of Sergio Rossi commissioned filmmaker Drake Doremus to create “The Search”, a story of getting lost and finding each other back.
It’s a dream, a cameo that Francesco Russo, Creative Director of Sergio Rossi, wanted to dedicate to all the women who share his passion for cinema and art.
For this, he chose Drake Doremus, the director-revelation who won the Grand Jury Prize with the film “Like Crazy.” Tthe video, produced by Luca Guadagnino and Francesca Fiocchi for Frenesy Film Company, portrays a woman who restlessly wanders through a forest still lit by the last warm rays of the summer sun, with just a map. She seems right out of a mysterious, futuristic fantasy.
With his dreamlike vision of the woman Doremus reveals one of the most intimate and obscure aspects of the feminine mystique and allows the viewer to seek his or her own interpretation.
“The map is a powerful, ancient symbol. We all think we know where we’re going, but our journey constantly changes. The protagonist of the film never stops searching. She continues to pursue summer and love,” explains Drake Doremus.
A native of Orange County, California, Drake Doremus (director/writer) is a graduate of the American Film Institute. He has made a film a year for each of the last four years. His latest, “Like Crazy, was his second dramatic competition Film at the Sundance Film Festival in as many years.
The film was glowingly received by audiences and critics alike and sold the evening of its Premiere to Paramount Pictures. One week later the film won the Grand Jury Prize for best Picture at Sundance as well as a special Jury Prize for best actress to Felicity Jones.
