DALLAS, May 18, 2012/ — All eyes might be in Cannes when it comes to the big screen; but for the small screen, fates of TV shows are being decided in New York.
Called ‘Upfront’, this is the time of year when studios decide what is in, what is out and what is moving!
The big shake up is CW bids farewell to its flagship show “Gossip Girl” as the CBS/Time Warner station shakes up its prime-time programming. Dallas native son Chace Crawford, who plays a leading role in the series, will have to look for another job soon.
Speaking of Dallas, TNT is reviving the highly successful “DALLAS”, one of the night time soaps that defined television during the 1980s. And contrary to popular belief, the new series is NOT a reboot, but a continuation of the original series which ended in 1991.
The new series revolves around the second generation Ewings – John Ross III, son of J.R. and Sue Ellen and Christopher, the adopted son of Bobby and Pam.
And if you’re wondering if the original cast is going to be there, yes, Larry Hagman and Patrick Duffy will reprise their original roles.
Meanwhile, CBS also has a major shake-up. Its prime moneymaker “Two and a Half Men” is moving to Thursday nights right after Big Bang Theory. Now, how’s that for a change?
