Grilled cheese, street tacos and sliders are no longer the only treasures Dallas locals can buy on four wheels. Shop Haute Wheels, Dallas’ catch-it-if-you-can mobile boutique, is serving up a curated assortment of handpicked clothing, jewelry, handbags and accessories all priced under $100.
Dreamt up by two fashionable best friends, the jewel box boutique on wheels – brilliantly repurposed from a retirement community shuttle bus – resembles a fabulous and well-edited closet stocked with looks from the pages of leading fashion magazines. Handpicked pieces from up-and-coming designers mingle alongside contemporary fashion favorites including Ark & Co., LoveRiche, Very J, Veronica M., Wells Grace, PPLA, Dex, Vintage Havana, Cecio, Kitsch and Caramela for a wide variety of quality, on-trend clothing and accessories to choose from.
The concept behind Shop Haute Wheels sprung from a casual food truck lunch shared between best friends Kelly Mijares Aguilar and Abby Elstad. Inspired by restaurants and independent chefs sharing their creations to the public via a simple four-wheel format, the duo resolved to bring the runway to the roadway in similar style.
Combined, the women’s fashion experience spans from their current hometown of Dallas to international fashion epicenters including Los Angeles, New York, Miami and Paris. Aguilar earned a degree from Southern Methodist University where she majored in Markets and Culture and Spanish before continuing her education in Paris, studying Fashion Design and French. She gained invaluable experience of the fashion industry working for designer Tiffany Alana in Los Angeles before serving as retail manager for Dillard’s. Elstad earned a bachelor’s degree in fashion merchandising and marketing from Wade College in Dallas where she studied abroad in Paris, France before working for major retailers including Neiman Marcus and BCBG.
“True to our style-on-the-go business concept, our goal has always been to style our customers with high quality pieces that seamlessly transition from day to night, taking the working woman from the office, to happy hour, to a dinner date with ease,” explains Aguilar.
The chic, park-able boutique peddles its designer duds anywhere and everywhere, a luxury brick and mortar shops cannot afford.
“Customers can catch us anywhere from office lunch hours, apartment resident events, restaurants and bars, outdoor markets and more. For the ultimate convenience, we also book private parties (girl’s nights, bachelorette parties, bridal showers, book clubs, wine clubs, etc) and reward event hostesses with shopping gift cards worth 10% of the total sales from any booked events,” says Elstad.
