CANNES, May 18, 2014/ — The film has not been screened yet; the red carpet at the The Palais De Festival is still waiting for Guy Pearce and Robert Pattinson, stars of “The Rover”.
And Chivas Regal 25, the world’s first luxury whisky was the first to toast them. Sponsoring the official film premiere party “The Rover”, Chivas Regal 25 crafted Chivas cocktails inspired by the glamour of Cannes and the French Riveria and served to guests before they departed to The Palais De Festival for the official screening of The Rover – a drama directed by David Michôd set in the Australian outback.
Set ten years after a collapse of the western economic system, “The Rover” brings the audience to Australia in a time when its mineral resources have drawn the desperate and dangerous to its shores.
With society in decline, the rule of law has disintegrated and life is cheap. Eric (GUY PEARCE) is a cold and angry drifter who has left everything and everyone behind. When his car – his last possession – is stolen by a gang of desperate desert hustlers, Eric embarks on a ruthless mission to track them down.
Along the way, he is forced into an unlikely relationship with Rey (ROBERT PATTINSON), the naïve and injured younger brother of gang member Henry (SCOOT McNAIRY) who has left Rey behind in the bloody aftermath of the gang’s most recent robbery.
In contrast to the dire, post-apocalyptic setting of the film, the party is set at the exclusive La Gold Plage, across from the Hotel Martinez.
Richard Black, Brand Director, Chivas Regal said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be part of The Rover film premiere party at Festival de Cannes as part of our whole program. Our Global Brand Ambassador, Max Warner, has created a menu of exquisite cocktails to serve at the party in honour of this event. This is sure to be another legendary year at the festival and we are excited to be part of it again.”
